1920s Art Deco Czech Filigree Necklace with Celluloid Coral Roses

1920s Art Deco Czech Filigree Necklace with Celluloid Coral Roses

A beautifully preserved piece of early Art Deco Czech costume jewelry, this vintage necklace dates to the 1920s–early 1930s. It features finely crafted gilt brass filigree, paired with carved celluloid roses in a rich coral hue — a popular material and motif in post-WWI design.

The necklace’s symmetrical composition blends floral and geometric influences, characteristic of early Art Deco aesthetics. It includes alternating filigree panels and molded rose connectors, leading to a striking central pendant with a dangling drop element. This style of construction is typical of export jewelry produced in Bohemia (Czechoslovakia), particularly in the Jablonec region.

While the piece is unmarked, it aligns with jewelry from several Bohemian workshops of the era. Though stylistically similar to Neiger Brothers work, the use of molded rose elements — common among multiple makers — makes the attribution broad.

Date: Circa 1920s

Origin: Czechoslovakia

Materials: Gilt brass filigree, molded celluloid

Clasp: Spring ring

Condition: Very good vintage condition.

This necklace is unsigned, which is typical for Czech costume jewelry from the 1920s–30s. While the design is reminiscent of Neiger Brothers’ style, the carved rose motif was widely used by other Bohemian workshops of the time.
