1940s Copper Beaded Box Handbag
This 1940s copper-bronze glass beaded handbag is a striking example of mid-century design, closely resembling the work of K&G Charlet (Paris–New York) — known for their intricately beaded evening bags that blended French elegance with American practicality.
Crafted in a softly structured bucket-box shape, the exterior is entirely hand-beaded in warm copper-bronze glass beads, with subtle pleated detailing that adds texture and dimension. The round, beaded lid is attached to the fixed handle and slides open along the handle’s curve, revealing a spacious, silk-lined interior.
The handle is fully beaded on top, with a brown cotton wrap below the handgrip — a thoughtful touch for added comfort and durability. Inside, the bag is lined in smooth black silk, clean and unworn.
The bag appears never used, retaining its original shape and finish. Though unlabelled, its craftsmanship and style closely align with the Paris–New York beaded handbags of the era, making it a rare and desirable piece for collectors and vintage enthusiasts alike.
