Embossed Black Leather Art Deco Clutch Bag

An elegant clutch bag in embossed black leather, featuring a polished chrome frame and a distinctive long bar clasp with guilloché decoration to the front.
The reverse retains its original glove holder strap, designed to secure a lady’s gloves when not being worn, thereby freeing space within the bag itself. Such straps were a practical feature commonly found on quality clutch bags of the period. Clutch bags were intended to be carried from beneath, tucked against the body, allowing the decorative clasp and upper section of the bag to remain prominently displayed.
The bright chrome fittings, angular corner mounts and clean geometric lines reflect the influence of contemporary industrial and Bauhaus inspired design.
